Rector of GH Media, now known as GH Schools, Leslie Addo Listowell, recounted that due to the challenge of inadequate funds, he had to resort to his wife’s salary in order to pay the workers at the school's inception.

He shared his inspiring journey with host, Irene Aning on Joy Learning’s entrepreneurial program entitled Career Trail. 

Starting up a school in 2016 with just three (3) students was an uphill battle for him. The institution was able to yield 33 more students, yet only three students were paying tuition fees for the semester.

“Imagine a situation where we have thirty-three students with only three students paying fees? It wasn’t easy”, he stated.

He expressed his utmost gratitude to his wife for being very supportive and aiding him to pay lecturers using her salary.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank my wife who was teaching in Achimota Secondary School at the time, for allowing me use her salary to pay my lecturers”, he said.

He also cited how distressful it was for him to use his wife’s salary to pay only important workers or lecturers because of financial hardships, while other lecturers had to be on a rotational pay roll waiting list.

“Sometimes paying lecturers was a problem, so when my wife’s salary comes we have to pick the salary and sort the important people out and then hold on with the other people, sometimes a lecturer would receive his salary for the month, but will not receive for the next month unless the following month, it was tough and difficult”, he disclosed.

Mr. Addo exhibited the spirit of dedication and hard work for the progress of his school.

“The journey has not been easy, the journey has been tough and difficult, but with dedication and hard work, we’ve been able to get here”, he revealed.

Also, he expressed how collaboration with notable broadcast industries like Multimedia, UTV, Atinka, TV3 among others, has placed his school on higher grounds.

“In this world you can’t do it alone you need collaborations, so collaborations helped us to come this far” he stated.

Now, GH Schools has an estimated number of two thousand, two hundred and twenty two students (2,222).
