Team Ghana claimed the second edition of the Capital City Africa Cup after coming from behind to beat DC United U-18s on Saturday, October 12.
The Ghana team sealed a 2-1 win to ensure back-to-back wins after Medeama SC's success last year.
The Ghana Select Side included seven players from the first team of Asante Kotoko, two players from Attram De Visser FC, in addition to other top Ghanaian players based in America.
DC United opened the scoring early in the first half but the Ghanaians found the equaliser through Kotoko's Elvis Kyei Baffour before the break.
Geoffrey Owusu netted the winning goal as the Ghanaian Select team won the Capital City Charity Cup at the end of 90 minutes.
The game was initially scheduled between Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko and DC United. However, challenges in visa acquisition for players led to the Kumas-based side withdrawing from the encounter.
This was after the first contingent from the club had left for the US.
The highly anticipated match headlined the DC Ghana Week celebrations, which is aimed at promoting Ghanaian tourism, culture, and sports in the DMV area.
