Ghana forward, Jordan Ayew, has praised compatriot Abdul Fatawu Issahaku for working hard to reach the Premier League.
The 20-year-old faced tough times at Sporting CP when he first moved to Europe in 2022, with the club’s manager, Rúben Amorim, stating that Issahaku lacked some basics and didn’t fit in at the club.
Issahaku then joined Leicester City on loan two seasons ago when they were relegated and contributed immensely to help them gain quick promotion back to the Premier League, earning him a long-term contract.
Jordan Ayew joined Leicester this past summer to team up with his compatriot. Speaking about Issahaku’s journey, Ayew was full of praise for the talented winger.
“It’s really great, actually. I met Abdul for the first time at the national training camp with Ghana around six years ago,” Ayew told Showmax. “This just shows that the boy has done a really good job and has worked hard to get to where he is today. All credit goes to him.
“I am now here at Leicester City not only to continue my football journey but also to ensure that Abdul is in a good place, because I know it isn’t easy for young players.
“I was very lucky because I had my brother and a few other senior players who were always advising me.
“Now that I am here and have been in the position to know how it is, I can guide him, but I can also be hard on him when necessary. It’s all positive for him.”
Jordan Ayew has featured in eight matches for Leicester City, while Fatawu Issahaku has played nine times for the Foxes.
