The flagbearer of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga, has criticised Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, the Presidential Candidate of the Movement for Change, for lacking a compelling campaign message.
According to him, Kyerematen’s Great Transformational Plan (GTP), which aims to revamp Ghana’s economy, is insufficient to address the country’s significant economic challenges.
Ayariga further highlighted Kyerematen’s involvement in the Akufo-Addo administration, accusing him of being part of the government that mismanaged the economy.
He argued that Kyerematen’s association with this administration makes him unfit to lead Ghana in the 2024 elections.
In a bold comparison, Ayariga equated Kyerematen’s policies with those of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stating that their ideologies and failures are closely aligned.
He stressed that Kyerematen’s vision for the country reflects the same shortcomings seen under the current NPP government.
Speaking in an interview with Channel One TV, Ayariga urged voters to reject both the NPP and Kyerematen in the upcoming elections, advocating for a fresh approach to governance and solutions that differ from what he sees as failed policies.
“Alan in one way or the other hand, I do not want to use certain words, but I will classify him as the class of C and G. It’s a political grading, so when you are able to know the words C and G, is the reason why he’s running for the presidency because he’s been part of the government that has failed."
“Because he anticipated that he was not going to win the flagbearership race, he decided to withdraw and form his movement. And I ask what is the difference between Alan and NPP? If the NPP is bad, Alan is bad.
"He was part of it, if NPP is good Alan is good. So Alan has no message, his message is zero. And all these people following him, after 2024, Alan is gone. It’s a movement and after the 2024 election, that movement has no name.”
