JoyBusiness' Daryl Kwawu has been adjudged Energy Reporter of the Year at the 8th Ghana Energy Awards.
The award is in recognition of his reportage on energy sector issues and his efforts to assemble the relevant resource persons and industry stakeholders to give the public a better understanding of happenings in the energy space.
"The energy sector is technical area, and it is important to break down the issues for the ordinary Ghanaian. The Awarding Panel considered that in deciding the winner for this category, " Cornelius Kwame Atiase, Deputy Manager, Corporate Communications at the Energy Media Group, said.
The Ghana Energy Awards, organised by the Energy Media Group, aims to highlight the exceptional contributions of industry professionals and organizations towards Ghana's energy development, fostering healthy competition and innovation.
The event is endorsed by the Ministry of Energy and its allied agencies and the World Energy Council Ghana, with validation by Forvis Mazars.
This year's competition saw an impressive surge of interest with over 170 submissions received .The nominations spanned across 25 competitive categories, showcasing the diverse contributions of individuals, companies, and institutions dedicated to advancing Ghana's energy sector.
"Energy issues have repercussions for our economy. These are crucial times, and this recognition is a challenge to me to go beyond the news to ensure the public is well-informed and keep stakeholders on their toes. That is the essence of our work, Daryl Kwawu, host of flagship programmes, The JoyBusiness Report on Joy FM and The MarketPlace on JoyNews remarked.
The theme for this year's event was - "The Role of Local Content in Building Ghana's Energy Sector" - highlighting the pivotal role local content plays in promoting sustainable growth and development within Ghana's energy sector.
