French President Emmanuel Macron, during a joint session of Morocco’s Parliament in Rabat, emphasised the unique opportunity to deepen relations between Morocco and France.
He described it as a foundation for an “exceptional partnership.”
Macron expressed confidence that the renewed bond will serve both nations over the next quarter-century.
He praised Morocco’s stability, diverse culture, and commitment to youth development, all of which, he noted, are anchored in values of tolerance, dialogue, and respect.
Macron highlighted France’s continued support for Morocco’s economic and social growth, especially in sectors like education, high-speed rail, and cultural industries.
He also emphasised the shared commitment to addressing water scarcity, agriculture, and digital innovation as part of a broader effort to secure food and resource stability across the region.
On the Moroccan Sahara, Macron reiterated France’s support for Morocco’s sovereignty, calling the 2007 autonomy plan the only viable framework for a lasting solution.
He praised Morocco’s role in African development and proposed a new strategic framework between France and Morocco, set to be formalised during an upcoming state visit by King Mohammed VI.
In addressing the Middle East crisis, Macron commended King Mohammed VI’s efforts to provide humanitarian support to Palestinians and Lebanese populations and expressed hope for Morocco’s continued influence in promoting dialogue and peace.
