Ensign Global College (EGC) actively participated in the 131st Ngmayem Festival in October 2024, combining cultural celebrations with a meaningful health outreach.
Continuing its commitment to public health, EGC partnered with students, alumni, and the Center for Global Surgery (CGS) at the University of Utah for a breast cancer awareness campaign on October 19.

Volunteers engaged festival-goers with information on early detection and prevention, collaborating closely with the Lower Manya Krobo Traditional Council, the Municipal Health Directorate, Narbita Hospital, Atua Government Hospital, St. Martin DePorres Hospital, Top-Up Pharmacy, and other local health partners.
The outreach also included health screenings for conditions like hypertension and diabetes.

Dr. Stephen Manortey, EGC’s Director of Academic Programs, expressed his excitement for the event, saying, “Participating in this year’s Ngmayem Festival as part of our 10th anniversary reflects Ensign’s deep-rooted mission to enhance community health and raise public awareness.”

Dr. Edward Kofi Sutherland, Medical Director at EGC and CGS Site Director for West Africa, added, “We are proud to work with our community partners to extend proactive health education and support directly to the community.”

EGC also joined the Yokama Day celebration on October 21, further supporting local development. College President Prof. Stephen Alder emphasized EGC’s dedication to working with the Krobo community.

He said, “Ensign Global College is committed to working alongside the Krobo people and communities to promote education, health, and development. Together, we can create lasting change for future generations.”

Through its involvement in the Ngmayem Festival, Ensign Global College demonstrated a sustained commitment to health awareness and community engagement.
