It has been a tough week for Black Stars boss, Otto Addo, who faces backlash, after Ghana failed to qualify for the AFCON for the first time in 20 years.
The Black Stars’ failure has compounded what has been a frustrating five years for the team, who have registered consecutive group stage exits at the AFCON, in 2022 and 2024.
Addressing the press, ahead of Ghana’s final AFCON qualifier against Niger, Otto Addo hit back at his critics, watering down the value of some observations they’ve made about him.
”Most of the people will judge me by the results, which were not good. But I have friends, I have mentors.
“I trained under Sammer, I was trained under Klopp, I was assistant to Edin Terzic, who was Dortmund Head Coach.
“They are also critical of some things, but this has much more value if I speak to Jurgen Klopp and he says this or that than somebody from anywhere saying bla bla this is bad,” Otto Addo retorted.
Otto Addo’s Black Stars will host Niger in their final AFCON qualifier on Monday, looking to register what’ll be their first and only win during the qualifying campaign.
