The Volta Regional Police Command has announced plans to assign police personnel to all media houses across the region on December 7, during the general elections.
This is aimed at providing security for media installations and journalists to protect them from harm, during the polls.
This is also targeted at ensuring smooth communication between the law enforcement agency and the media.
The Volta Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Andrews Boadu-Ekumah, disclosed this at a stakeholder’s seminar in Ho.
“The media is central to the distribution of reliable information and to holding peace during elections. It is our responsibility as a law enforcement agency to ensure they can work in an environment where they feel safe and secure”, DCOP Ekumah insisted.
He urged media houses to actively collaborate with the assigned officers and adhere to established security protocols while encouraging journalists to report any threats or suspicious activities promptly.
“Security is a shared responsibility, and we need all hands on deck to make this election peaceful and credible,” DCOP Ekumah appealed.
