The National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed concern over recent campaign activities by certain party executives, members, and supporters advocating for individuals seeking positions at the constituency, regional, and national levels within the party.
The elders are alarmed by this development and are urging all members and supporters to refrain from engaging in such activities, as they do not contribute to the party’s efforts to recover and strengthen itself following the disappointing results of the 2024 elections.
At this critical time, the party’s primary focus should be on assessing the reasons behind the poor performance in the recent elections.
To address this, the NPP National Council has set up an Election Review Committee, led by Professor Mike Oquaye. The committee will engage with party members, stakeholders, and the wider public over the next three months and will present a report with its findings and recommendations at the conclusion of its work.

The elders reminded party members that this is a time for reflection on the events of the 2024 elections. While the time for internal contests and campaigns will eventually come, the immediate priority must be on rebuilding and re-energising the party
“We have overcome such challenges before, and with faith and determination, we can rise again,” the elders concluded, expressing confidence that the party will emerge stronger from this setback.
