Retired Commissioner of Police (COP) Nathan Kofi Boakye has been appointed by President John Mahama to serve as the Director of Security Operations at the Presidency.
The President also appointed former interior Minister, Prosper Douglas Bani, as his National Security Advisor.
Other appointments include Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Abdul Osman-Razak as National Security Coordinator and Charles Kipo as the Director-General of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
According to the President, these key appointments to the nation’s security apparatus reflect his commitment to ensuring national security and the safety of all Ghanaians, as noted by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President’s acting spokesperson, in a statement issued on Wednesday, January 15.
Kofi Boakye and Prosper Bani were part of the President's temporary six-man security coordinating team before the President was officially sworn in.
Other members of the team included Lt. General Peter Augustine Blay (Rtd.), former Chief of Defence Staff, Kofi Totobi Quakyi, former Minister for National Security, Larry Gbevlo-Lartey Esq., former National Security Coordinator, and Brigadier General Fuseini Iddrissu (Rtd.).
The team was expected to begin their mandate on 7th January, 2025.
