Roads and Highways Minister nominee, Kwame Agbodza, has urged the public to avoid tagging road contractors with political party colours, stating that contractors should be recognised for their patriotism rather than their political affiliations.
Speaking during his vetting by the Appointments Committee on Monday, January 20, Mr Agbodza emphasised that contractors play a crucial role in the development of the country and should be viewed as dedicated professionals contributing to the nation’s progress.
He expressed concern that political parties sometimes unfairly attach party labels to contractors, which he believes undermines their hard work and commitment.
Mr Agbodza clarified that contractors, regardless of their political allegiance, are integral to the nation’s infrastructure development and should be supported in their efforts.
He called for a shift in focus towards their contributions to national growth rather than their political leanings.
The Minister nominee's comments reflect his belief in the importance of unity and patriotism in the execution of national projects, stressing that every contractor's aim should be the development of Ghana, not partisanship.
"Ghanaian road contractors are very patriotic but the problem only comes when they take the loan and they are not paid and their properties are collateralised."
