Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have been advised to harness the power of technology to improve efficiency and expand their market reach. Ezekiel Akpan, a Manager and IT Advisory expert at KPMG, shared this during the JoyBusiness Advisory Series, a two-week programme designed to equip SMEs with financial and business development strategies for 2025.
Speaking on the platform, Ezekiel highlighted how technology can transform business operations, enabling SMEs to compete more effectively in today’s fast-evolving market landscape.
“We are living in a digital era and people want convenience. People want to stay in their offices and their homes and have access to products or services. So, taking advantage of technology will put you in a better position to expose your business to potential customers you might never reach within your jurisdiction,” he emphasized.

Mr. Akpan also cautioned entrepreneurs about the importance of protecting their businesses from cyber-security threats.
“We have certain standards that you just have to comply with. Your data, where are you storing it? How secure is it? Who has access to it? What system are you using? Is it secure? There are very basic check boxes that you need to secure,” he noted.
The JoyBusiness Advisory Series continues to provide actionable insights to SMEs, helping them navigate challenges and seize opportunities in 2025.
