I have come across several publications in both online and traditional media questioning the suitability of the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Gas Company Ltd, Robert Kofi Lartey. Some of these reports have even gone as far as accusing him of being a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The campaign to discredit the Ghana Gas CEO is clearly an attempt to tarnish his image, despite his contributions to the National Democratic Congress (NDC). This deliberate misrepresentation of facts, driven by sectarian and parochial interests, necessitates this clarification.
For the record, Ing. Robert Kofi Lartey is a seasoned oil and gas professional with over 20 years of experience in the industry. His professional competence is beyond question, and it is unacceptable that some comrades are actively working to revoke his appointment purely on the grounds of political partisanship.
It is shocking that, at a time when we should be supporting President Mahama in his mission to reset the country after eight years of NPP misrule and mismanagement, some members of our party are engaging in divisive and counterproductive tactics.
As a longstanding member of the NDC, I can personally attest to Robert Kofi Lartey’s unwavering commitment and numerous contributions to the party in various capacities. Instead of undermining his appointment, we should rally behind him and work collectively to advance the president’s agenda.
We cannot allow personal interests to jeopardise President Mahama’s vision of restoring and repositioning the country for progress. Some of us will not stand by and condone baseless attacks against our colleagues, especially those entrusted by the president to serve in key positions.
The NDC campaigned on a promise to reset Ghana, and that agenda is already in motion. Kofi Lartey needs our full support to lead Ghana National Gas Company Ltd in contributing to this national reset. Let us remain focused on the bigger picture and work together for the success of our party and the country.
