The National Identification Authority (NIA) has reiterated its call on Ghanaians to collect more than 600,000 printed but unclaimed Ghana Cards at regional and district offices nationwide.
According to the NIA in a statement issued on Tuesday, February 18, these cards, which have been ready since 2018, remain uncollected.
The NIA stated that it is developing a more efficient distribution system to ensure the cards reach their rightful owners.
This reminder comes as the NIA received 700,000 blank cards on Monday, February 17, 2025, from its technical partners after weeks of negotiations.
It said the new stock will be used to print the backlog of applications, including first-time issuances, replacements, and personal information updates that have been pending since 2023.
To expedite the process, the Ag. Executive Secretary has established a technical team tasked with accelerating the printing of the backlog and overseeing the distribution of the newly printed cards to various district offices for issuance.
The NIA reassures the public of its commitment to ensuring that all Ghanaians aged 15 and above receive their Ghana Cards for identification and verification purposes.
It stated that further updates on the commencement of card issuance at district offices will be communicated in due course.
The Authority urged individuals who have not yet collected their cards to visit their respective regional and district offices to do so promptly.
