On 21st February 2025, the town of Nkawkaw bore witness to a momentous occasion as Charles Selorm Dumenu, popularly known as Trey La, was celebrated for his unwavering dedication to the health sector in Kwahuman.
In recognition of his exceptional contributions, the International Kingdom University, Florida, conferred upon him a prestigious award.
Dumenu, who serves as the Deputy Municipal Director of the National Ambulance Service in Nkawkaw, was acknowledged for his instrumental role in enhancing emergency healthcare services in the municipality.
Dumenu’s influence extends far beyond the realm of emergency healthcare. A man of remarkable versatility, he seamlessly integrates his expertise in healthcare, writing, music, public relations, and governance into a life devoted to public service.
His efforts in ensuring swift and efficient emergency response have undoubtedly saved numerous lives, underscoring the essence of true leadership—one driven by action rather than mere titles.
Away from the wailing sirens and urgent medical calls, Dumenu has established himself as a thought leader whose writings contribute to national discourse, a distinguished recording artiste who has redefined artistic expression, and an academic whose relentless pursuit of knowledge sets him apart.
His groundbreaking release of The Money Trey EP and book, which share the same theme, has cemented his status as the first Ghanaian to achieve such a feat, further highlighting his ingenuity.
In addition to Dumenu, several other distinguished individuals were also honoured with Honorary Doctorates for their outstanding contributions to society. Among them were Nana Omari Agyapong I, the Abuafuohene of Obomeng, who has shown unwavering commitment to the development of his people; SHT Prince Owusu Achena, the Municipal Director of the National Ambulance Service, for his exemplary leadership in emergency healthcare; and Madam Mary Divine Amemo, an esteemed educationist, recognised for her remarkable impact on education in Kwahuman.
This honour is a fitting tribute to Dumenu and his fellow awardees, reflecting their relentless commitment to uplifting society. Charles Selorm Dumenu stands as an inspiration to many, proving that with passion, discipline, and a selfless heart, one can leave an indelible mark across multiple spheres of life.
