Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has vowed to win a trophy and lead the Phobians to Africa next season.
Hearts of Oak’s only route to a title this season is the Ghana Premier League, where they sit fourth with 33 points, just one point behind the top spot after 19 games.
The Ivorian trainer’s team was eliminated from the FA Cup this past weekend by Golden Kick, a Division One side, after losing a penalty shootout at the Legon Stadium.
However, Ouattara remains confident that his side can win the league and secure a place in the CAF Champions League next season.
“My target for Hearts of Oak is to win a domestic trophy, qualify for Africa, achieve a glorious name, and go forward. This is my focus,” he told Asempa FM.
“To compete in Africa, you need to win the league or a trophy in Ghana before earning the opportunity. So, let us work on it and move forward. For Hearts of Oak, the future is bright.”
The Ghana Premier League has been on a break since the fatal stabbing of Asante Kotoko fan Francis Frimpong on February 2 in Nsoatre, and is set to return on March 7.
