Security personnel have been deployed to the Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo district to ensure peace and stability following a violent attack on the Nanik community.

This is according to the North East Regional Minister, Ibrahim Tia.

The attack, which claimed three lives, is believed to be linked to ongoing chieftaincy disputes that have fueled tensions in the region.

However, Minister Ibrahim Tia, in an interview with Accra-based Channel One, dismissed claims that the incident was a reprisal attack, describing it as an isolated occurrence.

Despite the circumstances surrounding the violence, Minister Ibrahim Tia clarified in an interview with Accra-based Channel One that the attack was not a reprisal but an isolated incident.

“We know that it’s an attack and not a reprisal because we just know that Nanik community was attacked.”

He reassured the public that authorities have the situation under control.

“The security is in control. They have deployed some security men who are in between the two communities to ensure that there is peace and stability,” Tia confirmed, emphasizing that the security forces are actively working to maintain order.

Security forces on the ground are conducting investigations, working to identify and arrest those behind the attack.

Minister Tia stressed that although chieftaincy disputes may have played a role in the unrest, the incident is being handled as a criminal case.
