Former Black Stars defender Anthony Baffoe has advised the National Sports Authority (NSA) to treat the pitches of the various national stadia with care.
Over the years, the pitches at the national stadia such as the Accra Sports Stadium and Baba Yara Stadium have been left in deplorable state.
This is as a result of the NSA renting it out for other non-sporting activities. During some of these events, there are no attempts to protect the nature of the pitches, which leads to their deterioration.
Speaking at the JoySports National Sports Dialogue, Anthony Baffoe, called on authorities to ensure the protection of the pitches in such cases.
"I think the last time we had a pitch cover in our stadium was the opening match for the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON," he said.
"I don't understand this; we do so many activities on the respective pitches without covering them. The stadium is also there to generate revenue, but if you have different events, cover the pitch.
"And if you elevate the stage on the pitch for the grass to get there, you can have even boxing on the middle of the pitch but these are the tools we need and these are the items we need in our stadium."
The JoySports Dialogue had Right to Dream founder, Tom Vernon, international sports consultant, Magnus Rex Danquah, and Baffoe as speakers with the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, also being present.
