Founder and board chairman of Bills Microcredit, Richard Nii Armah Quaye, has credited one of his former lecturers in the United Kingdom (UK) for inspiring his remarkable success, which has seen him rise to prominence as a leading entrepreneur.
Speaking in an interview with Bola Ray, Mr Quaye recounted a life-changing conversation he had with his lecturer, Michael Mainwaring, at the London College of Accountancy in the UK after class.
According to him, the lecturer called him aside and asked about his plans after school. "Richard, what are your plans after school?" the lecturer inquired.
Mr Quaye admitted that he was still contemplating his next move. However, his lecturer had a different vision for him.

"He told me, ‘No. I want to believe that when you go back home, you will succeed way better than when you stay here. You will make it very big back home, and your success will open doors for you to return to the UK. But this time, you should come back in your private jet and come and pay me a visit.’”
This profound statement, he said, resonated deeply with him, shaping his perspective and fueling his ambition.
As he turns 40, Mr Quaye also reflected on his achievements and future aspirations, including his decision to retire at this milestone age.
"It is monumental for me. I plan on going into retirement at 40," he shared, emphasising his long-term vision and strategic planning in the business world.
