The H4P Organization has recognized the achievements and contributions of three distinguished Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Ghana.

At the second edition of the Christina Hackman Impact Leadership (C.H.I.L) Awards and Dinner Night on Saturday, the PWDs individuals were honoured for making significant contributions to the disability community.

The C.H.I.L Awards was established in memory of Mrs. Christina Anansewa Hackman, and this year’s ceremony coincided with what would have been Mrs. Hackman’s 70th birthday.

In his keynote address, H4P Founder and CEO, Bishop Dr. Charles Cofie Hackman, called for a shift in societal perceptions of disability. “My hope is that the C.H.I.L Awards will help people see disability for what it truly is—a part of human diversity that deserves respect, equal opportunity, and dignity,” he stated.

The individuals were honored for their achievements in the education, sports and entrepreneurship categories. The Education Category award went to Prof. Wisdom Mprah, an esteemed Associate Professor at the Department of Health Promotion and Disability Studies, School of Public Health, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), recognized for his unwavering commitment to advancing the education and welfare of individuals with disabilities.

Mr. Ntim Twumasi Kwaku (NTK) received the C.H.I.L. Award for Entrepreneurship. NTK is a celebrated Ghanaian entrepreneur and philanthropist, renowned for his significant impact on both the business landscape and social development. The Sports Category award was presented to Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe, a remarkable three-time Paralympian celebrated for his extraordinary achievements in parasports. Raphael’s distinguished career spans over a decade, including participation in the 2008 Beijing Paralympics, the 2011 Maputo African Games, the 2012 London Paralympics, and the 2023 Paris Games.

Awardees received a C.H.I.L Plaque, Certificate, Medal of Honour, a cash prize, an exclusive interview with Bishop Hackman, and a year of free publicity for their projects.

The Special Guest of Honour, Sister Elizabeth Newman of the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND), received the C.H.I.L Lifetime Honorary Award for her decades of service in education and disability advocacy in Ghana.

The event also featured performances from artists including Min Elorm, Daniel Opoku Adjei, Seperewa Agofoma (Abena Serwaa Osei Korankye), and Douglas Makafui.

The C.H.I.L Awards continue to provide a platform for celebrating the achievements of PWDs while fostering networking opportunities among stakeholders in Ghana’s disability community.
