The family of slain investigative journalist Ahmed Suale has expressed relief and hope following the remand of Daniel Owusu Koranteng, Managing Director of ISPY Company, as a suspect in the journalist’s murder.
Speaking on behalf of the family on Joy FM's Newsnight, Kamil, the family spokesperson, described the development as a long-overdue breakthrough in the six-year-old case that had seemingly gone cold.
"This is a very, very welcome call for the family. We are very happy because at least we are seeing that something is coming out. For over six years, this case has been hanging, and every time we went to the CID headquarters, all they would say was ‘we are still on it.’ At a point, we believed justice would never come,"' he stated on Wednesday, March 19.

Ahmed Suale, a key member of Tiger Eye PI, was gunned down in 2019, a crime that sent shockwaves through the media fraternity and raised serious concerns about the safety of journalists in Ghana.
Despite repeated calls for justice, progress on the case had been slow, leading to frustrations among journalists and human rights activists.
Mr Kamil said while the family is relieved, the real beneficiaries of justice will be journalists, who continue to work under threats and intimidation.
"We are happy, not just for us, but for you, the journalists, because our brother is gone, and your colleagues face the same risks. If justice does not come in this case, others will still have the strength to do the same thing, knowing they will go scot-free.
"But if justice is served, anyone who tries this in the future will know that no matter how far they run, justice will catch up with them one day."
