The immediate past Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu Gyamfi, has observed that the partisan political posture in dealing with the Bawku conflict has allowed criminals to take advantage of the situation to kill innocent people.
According to him, the country needs to realize that amidst the confusion, criminals and other individuals are being given room to misbehave.
He called on Ghanaians to support the mediation efforts by the Asantehene and the National Peace Council to bring the situation under control.
Rev. Adu Gyamfi was speaking at the 62nd Annual Refresher Course, Retreat, and Business Session of the Ghana Baptist Convention Ministers' Conference at Ejura.
"I think all of us, as Ghanaians and the media, must provide support for Otumfuo and the peace council because they are on the ground doing a lot of mediation work to ensure peace," he emphasized.
In an interview with Adom News, he also charged the media to be circumspect in their comments, saying "they have to do things that will foster peace, not things that will fuel the conflict."
The annual Baptist conference brought together ministers from all local Baptist churches.
The Conference President, Rev. Dr. Charles Owusu Ampofo, encouraged the ministers to hold on to their faith and not be discouraged by circumstances in life.
