The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has inaugurated a newly constituted governing board of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to be chaired by Member of Parliament for the Cape Coast South, George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan
In a short remark to swear in the board members, Dr. Forson charged the board to support the operations of the management to ensure full automation of the authority.
This, he said will make the authority efficient and optimise its performance in mobilizing revenue.
“On a yearly basis, we have programmed to add at least 0.6 percent of tax revenue to our GDP moving forward”.
“I want to use this opportunity to urge you that the time is now for us to look within to raise all the necessary revenue.To achieve our revenue objectives, several key areas require collective attention and urgent action. The first is the acceleration for the modernization of the Ghana Revenue Authority”, he said.

He pointed out that achieving the revenue target will entail not merely upgrading systems but transforming the GRA operational efficiency.
“A modern efficient and automated GRA will facilitate tax collection and minimise the opportunity for avoidance and significantly enhance tax payer experience”, he observed.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Ricketts-Hagan has assured of supporting the operations of the GRA through the use of technology to increase revenue mobilization.
Other members of the board include, Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Francis Xavier Sosu, Member of Parliament for Madina, Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, and others.
