The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ahanta West in the Western Region, Ing. Ebenezer Kofi Aidoo, has stepped up efforts to strengthen collaboration between traditional authorities and local government to accelerate development across the municipality.
As part of this initiative, the MCE paid a courtesy call this week on Nana Eziaku IV, Chief of Agona Ahanta and Acting President of the Ahanta Traditional Council.
"This engagement is to deepen collaboration between the municipal assembly and our traditional authorities," the MCE said. "We believe that building a healthy relationship with our chiefs is fundamental to ensuring peace and progress in Ahanta West."
The discussions focused on education, healthcare, job creation, and peacebuilding—key areas considered critical for unlocking the municipality's development potential.
Both leaders agreed that more coordinated efforts were needed to address persistent challenges in the education and health sectors.
"We are committed to working together to enhance education in the municipality, which remains a major concern," said Nana Eziaku IV.
On job creation and economic empowerment, the MCE and the Chief pledged to leverage their respective offices to engage the right stakeholders and promote inclusive socio-economic growth.
"Facilitating the speedy development of Ahanta West, sustaining peace and stability, and avoiding stagnation remain at the heart of my mandate," Ing. Aidoo stated. "This is how we will deliver on the vision of President John Dramani Mahama."
The visit is part of a broader strategy by the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly to strengthen local governance by incorporating the wisdom, influence, and leadership of traditional authorities in planning and implementation.
