The Association of Global Traditional Leaders in Development (AGLOTLED) has launched the '1 Child 1 Book a Week' initiative at the Redemption Orphanage Home in Damongo, Savannah Region.
This is to promote literacy and encourage a strong reading culture among children.
The initiative was introduced during a special donation and dinner ceremony at the home, which currently houses 54 children and has supported many others who have successfully reintegrated into society since its establishment in 2006.
President of AGLOTLED, Nana Afia Siraa Ababio III, queen mother of the Werempe Division of the Berekum Traditional Council, officially launched the initiative, encouraging every child to read at least one book per week to foster academic growth and personal development.

As part of the event, AGLOTLED donated an undisclosed amount of money, bottled water, biscuits, and other essential items to support the children’s welfare and education.
The group expressed joy at the opportunity to engage with the children and pledged continued support in the future.
They also advised the youth to stay away from substance abuse and negative peer influences.
Pastor Abraham, Proprietor of the Redemption Orphanage, expressed deep gratitude to AGLOTLED for the gesture and appealed for further infrastructure support to improve the quality of care and education at the home.

The “1 Child 1 Book a Week” initiative is expected to significantly impact the children’s learning and self-development.
AGLOTLED has extended similar philanthropic efforts to other vulnerable groups across various regions, reinforcing its commitment to education and community upliftment.
