Dr Godfred Seidu Jasaw, Member of Parliament and Chair of the Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs Committee, delivered the keynote address as Special Guest at the official launch of the Ghana Chapter of the Cocoa Farmers Africa Alliance Association of Africa (COFAAA), held yesterday in Accra.
The invitation was extended by the Executive Secretary of the Ghana Chapter, underscoring the event’s significance to the nation’s cocoa sector.
COFAAA is a respected pan-African membership organisation that brings together cocoa farmers across the continent in a unified effort to address challenges facing the industry.

Its core mission is to ensure the long-term sustainability of the global cocoa ecosystem through collaborative action and policy engagement.
In his address, Dr Jasaw commended the Alliance for its insightful contributions and collective commitment to promoting sustainable farming practices while tackling the structural challenges confronting the cocoa industry.
He affirmed the commitment of former President John Mahama and the incoming administration to “reset” the cocoa subsector by increasing production levels and improving the livelihoods of cocoa farmers.

Dr Jasaw further assured the Alliance of the Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs Committee’s readiness to support initiatives that will revitalise the sector.
He emphasised the need to strengthen farmer cooperatives to take full advantage of government support systems.
Concluding his remarks, he urged all stakeholders to align themselves with the new government’s cocoa sector reform agenda to ensure a meaningful and inclusive transformation.
