Some contests give you a clear winner from the very first round, and that was exactly the case in the final contest of day one at the Central Regional qualifiers of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
Obiri Yeboah Senior High Technical School left no room for doubt, delivering a commanding performance across all four rounds to win the contest with 34 points, securing the third qualification slot of the day and booking their place in the national championship.
Right from round one, Obiri Yeboah SHTS made their intentions clear. They aced most of their major questions and even picked up bonus points, finishing the round with 21 points, the only double-digit score.

Their closest contender, Kwegyir Aggrey SHTS, followed distantly with 7 points, while Odupong SHS and Jukwa SHTS managed 4 and 1 point, respectively.
They remained firmly in control during the speed race in round two, extending their lead to 27 points. The gap only widened, with Kwegyir Aggrey SHTS on 10 points, Jukwa SHTS on 9, and Odupong SHS on 8.
In the true-or-false round, Obiri Yeboah continued their winning streak, bringing their total to 34 points. Meanwhile, Jukwa SHTS climbed into second place with 22 points, overtaking Kwegyir Aggrey SHTS, who ended the round with 17 points, and Odupong SHS, who fell behind with 12.

Interestingly, Obiri Yeboah SHTS did not answer any of the riddles in the final round, but their earlier dominance had already sealed the victory.
With this win, Obiri Yeboah becomes the third school to qualify on day one of the regional contest, as they now prepare to battle it out for the Central Regional championship title and national glory.
