Ghana’s military is preparing to recruit and train 12,000 new personnel into the Army Recruits Training School and the Ghana Military Academy, the Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has announced.
The disclosure follows an extensive working visit to key military sites within the 1 Garrison of the Ghana Armed Forces.
Speaking after the tour, which lasted nearly 11 hours, Dr Boamah praised the leadership of Commodore Asiedu-Larbi and commended personnel for their “tireless efforts”.
He noted that the visit offered a firsthand view of the operational readiness and dedication of Ghana’s armed forces.
Addressing concerns of corruption in the recruitment process, the Minister gave firm assurances.
“Let me repeat: recruitment and enlistment into the Ghana Armed Forces is not for sale; and will not be for sale under my #EAGLEEYES watch!” he declared. The statement underscores renewed efforts to maintain integrity and fairness in military enlistment.
Dr Boamah’s tour also included inspections at the Eastern Naval Command, where he observed strategic installations, and at Michel Camp, where troops demonstrated their capacity to respond to explosive threats.
“We’re working hard under President Mahama’s #ResettingGhana agenda to ensure our soldiers’ welfare and safety,” he said.
