Spokesperson for Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer race, Kwasi Kwarteng, Esq., has described his candidate as the embodiment of discipline, contrasting him with former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, whom he says represents humility.

Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show on Wednesday, Mr Kwarteng noted that while both traits are admirable, Ghana’s current challenges require a leader whose discipline drives tangible results.

"Just like any character trait, people have their strengths and shortcomings. Obviously, some strengths will outweigh others. For instance, people may associate Dr Bawumia with a form of humility. On the general level, Kennedy Agyapong may not be associated with humility, but everybody knows he is known for discipline. He is a no-nonsense person, there are things he will not tolerate," Mr Kwarteng explained.

He emphasised that in these critical times, Ghanaians are searching for a results-driven leader with a track record of performance.

“In a crucial time like this, what Ghanaians are looking for is that person, disciplined, with a remarkable track record. A track record of creating jobs, stimulating growth, and making bold decisions,” he added.

While acknowledging Mr Agyapong’s assertive and outspoken nature, Mr Kwarteng argued that his candidate’s bold character has made him relatable and endeared him to the grassroots.

"He is humble in context," Mr Kwarteng clarified. "His style may be loud, but it reflects his passion for solving problems and connecting with ordinary people."

Both Kennedy Agyapong and Dr Bawumia are among six contenders expected to seek the NPP’s flagbearer slot ahead of the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Mr Kwarteng concluded by asserting that Kennedy Agyapong remains the most qualified to lead Ghana with practical and disciplined leadership that meets the demands of the moment.
