The former Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF), Mr. Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng, was stopped from boarding an international flight at the Kotoka International Airport on the night of 29th July, 2025.
Mr Koranteng, who is currently under investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and is on OSP enquiry bail, attempted to leave the country without obtaining the required express permission from the OSP.
Unbeknownst to him, he had been placed on a travel watch list—commonly referred to as a stop list—due to the ongoing investigation.
Immigration officials at the airport flagged his attempt to travel and took him into custody.
The Ghana Immigration Service informed the OSP of the incident. The OSP has since taken custody of the former MIIF boss for further action.
