The Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana, has officially written to the Ministry of Agriculture demanding urgent government intervention in the affairs of the Ohawu Agricultural College.
The MP confirmed this move in a Facebook post on Saturday, August 2.
“This week, I formally submitted a letter to the Ministry of Agriculture, highlighting the longstanding neglect of the Ohawu Agricultural College by successive governments,” Mr Agbana disclosed.
He called for concrete steps to address the college’s infrastructure, funding, and programme expansion.
He said the college remains a critical institution in Ghana’s agricultural ecosystem and should not be allowed to deteriorate further. “We must act decisively and now,” he stated, adding that elevating the college is vital to strengthening the country’s food systems.
Mr Agbana also called on the Minister of Agriculture to work closely with the Ministry of Education to fast-track the college’s transformation into a full-fledged university.
He noted that President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership offers the perfect window to actualise this goal.
“To the chiefs and people, I say this: we will not relent in our advocacy,” the MP pledged.
“We are determined to see this promise fulfilled, not merely as a political commitment, but as a strategic investment in the future of agriculture.”
