The Deputy Commissioner of the National Insurance Commission (NIC), Bernard Ohemeng Baah, has underscored the importance of innovation, resilience, and cybersecurity in advancing the insurance sector.
Speaking at the 8th Ghana Insurance Awards, Mr Baah urged insurance companies to leverage the government’s newly launched 24-hour economy, noting that the three-shift system presents opportunities for insurers to reimagine their business models and respond to evolving consumer needs.

He further stressed the need for companies to strengthen their cyber resilience as they increasingly rely on technology to drive operations and growth.
The 2025 Ghana Insurance Awards (GIA) honoured 16 companies and six individuals for their outstanding contributions to Ghana’s insurance industry. Powered by PayAngel, the awards aim to celebrate achievements and innovations that set benchmarks in corporate social responsibility, industry standards, product development, and stewardship.

Over the years, the annual ceremony has grown into a premier event, bringing together top-tier professionals and key industry stakeholders to highlight advancements in insurance management and corporate governance. This year’s categories recognised excellence across life and non-life companies, re-insurers, brokerage firms, intermediaries, health insurers, actuarial firms, and other insurance service providers.

Richard Abbey Junior, Events Director at Xodus Communications Limited, organisers of the awards, emphasised the event’s role in fostering dialogue, networking, and the exchange of best practices in the sector.

The ceremony also featured insights from high-profile speakers including Abdul Razak Baaba, Deputy CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC); Bernard Ohemeng Baah, Deputy Commissioner, NIC; Spencer Quaye, Board Chairman, DVLA; and Rev. Eric Kwapong of Rev. Kwapong Ministries.

Discussions centred on how digital innovation, sustainability, and regulatory compliance are shaping the future of Ghana’s insurance industry.
