On Saturday, 23rd August, 2025, Ghana’s literary landscape will welcome a fresh, high-calibre addition this August as Lorgorligi Locomotion, the creative brand founded by poet and rapper Hondred Percent, launches Sage Poetry, a uniquely curated poetry event designed to spotlight Ghana’s finest poetic voices.
The maiden edition will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at E-Ananse Library, East Legon. This inaugural showcase will feature award-winning poets, Nana Asaase, Nana Fredua-Agyeman Jnr, and Akotowaa delivering a rich blend of artistry, culture, and spoken word mastery.
Unlike open-mic events, Sage Poetry offers a deliberately curated, two-hour programme: three (3) featured poets, each performing two original poems, a heritage recitation by a guest poet to honour voices of the past. A poetic wrap-up capturing the event’s highlights in verse.
This format ensures a tight, engaging experience while providing audience members the opportunity to connect personally with the performers after the show.
“Sage Poetry is about quality, preservation, and connection,” says founder Hondred Percent. “We are creating an archive that celebrates Ghanaian poetry and inspires others to engage with it; both live and online.
”In partnership with Stylus Innovation, each edition of Sage Poetry will be professionally recorded, archived, and shared via YouTube and social media platforms. This effort aims to build a lasting digital library of Ghanaian poetic expression and encourage global audiences to discover and engage with the country’s vibrant literary talent.
Tickets are priced at GH₵100 per person, with limited seating available. Attendees are encouraged to book early to secure their spot. Sage Poetry will be held three times annually in April, August, and December. Each edition will feature new artists and creative collaborations.
