Ernest Yaw Anim, Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumawu, has expressed grave concern over the rising spate of illegal sand-winning, warning that the practice is wreaking havoc on critical infrastructure in the district.
Speaking to party members in the constituency over the weekend, he noted that reckless sand-mining activities were causing severe damage to ongoing road projects initiated under the previous government.
Mr. Anim underscored the need for residents to protect public property and safeguard infrastructural development in Kumawu. He also urged the police to intensify efforts to clamp down on the menace.
“The road is for the people of Kumawu, not for selfish destruction. I will not sit idle while our future is compromised,” he declared.
The MP reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing all ongoing projects and vowed to personally lead routine inspections to ensure those who damage state resources are held accountable.
