In a landmark collaboration aimed at strengthening Ghana’s security sector, the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat (SCHOLSEC) has partnered with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to create scholarship opportunities for military personnel at the soon-to-be-launched Ghana Defence University.
The new institution is designed to deliver cutting-edge academic programs tailored to the dynamic needs of the security and defence landscape.
This initiative will offer personnel of the Armed Forces the opportunity to pursue specialised training and education in critical areas such as defence strategy, intelligence, and cybersecurity.
The decision to allocate scholarships for military personnel was the outcome of a high-level meeting between the GAF leadership and the management of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, led by Registrar Alex Asafo-Agyei.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, Mr. Asafo-Agyei reaffirmed the government’s commitment to human capital development within the security services.
This collaboration underscores President John Mahama’s shared vision to build a more skilled and knowledgeable security force, equipped to address today’s complex security challenges,” he said.
The Ghana Defence University is expected to commence academic operations in the near future, offering world-class programs that align with global standards and best practices in defense education.
This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in national efforts to modernize Ghana’s security architecture through capacity building and professional development.
