A serious road accident occurred late on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Adukrom Waterworks Junction in the Okere District, involving a KIA Mighty II truck with registration number GN 3931-18.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the truck lost control while descending the Adukrom–Somanya road, reportedly due to clutch failure.

The crash, which happened around 11:30 p.m., caused extensive damage to the vehicle and destroyed about 50 bags of cement and other construction materials it was carrying.
The Akropong Fire Station received a distress call at 11:19 p.m. and swiftly dispatched a rescue team led by ASTNO Jerry Kugblenu. Upon arrival, the crew found the driver, 47-year-old Ebenezer Nii Okai Gborbitey, trapped inside the wreckage.

Firefighters successfully extricated the injured driver and handed him over to the Akuapem North Ambulance Service for urgent medical attention.
Despite the heavy damage to the truck and cargo, the GNFS commended the quick response of the rescue team, which they said was crucial in saving the driver’s life.
