Ghana’s charge at the World Athletics Championships enters full swing this weekend with Benjamin Azamati and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu leading the sprint quest in the men’s 100 metres.
Azamati runs at 12:03 GMT on Saturday, September 13, before Saminu takes his turn at 12:17 GMT in the heats. Should they advance, both will return for the semi-finals on Sunday from 11:45 GMT, with the much-anticipated final set for 1:20 GMT the same day.
Ghana’s presence on the track continues on Day 5, September 17, when Ibrahim Fuseini opens his campaign in the men’s 200m heats at 11:15 GMT. The semi-finals will follow on Day 6 at 12:02 GMT, before the final showdown on Day 7 at 1:06 GMT.
Rose Yeboah will be jumping on same day in the women’s High qualification campaign at 10:15 GMT.
Middle-distance star Alex Amankwah will fly the flag in the men’s 800m on Day 8 at 1:22 GMT, sharing the day’s spotlight with Ghana’s 4×100m relay team, who enter the fray at 11:25 GMT. The relay final is scheduled for Day 9, September 21, at 12:20 GMT.
That final day of the Championships could turn into a double finals moment for Ghana if High jumper Rose Yeboah, making her debut reaches the final, she will be chasing glory in the women’s final at 10:30 GMT, hours before a potential relay finale.
