The new European Union Ambassador to Ghana, Rune Skinnebach, has met with investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas to discuss his groundbreaking investigative works.
His Excellency Rune Skinnebach officially began his duties as the new ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Ghana after presenting his Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, at the Jubilee House, Accra, on September 19, 2025.

Ambassador Skinnebach is a seasoned diplomat with over 20 years of distinguished service in the EU’s external relations framework, having previously served as EU Ambassador to the Republic of Malawi and Head of the Political, Press, and Information Section at the EU Delegation to Zambia.
Ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw is widely acclaimed for his explosive investigative projects, including Ghana's judiciary scandal released in 2015, the Sex Mafia, Torture Home, and Number 12, just to mention a few. These works have a significant impact on Ghana.
The meeting with Anas on September 26, 2025, provided the platform for Anas and Ambassador Skinnebach to discuss issues affecting investigative journalists and their work, as well as press freedom in Ghana in general.
The EU has, over the years, worked to defend independent journalism in Ghana and across the world.
The new EU Ambassador also shared commitments to a free press in Ghana and beyond.
The European Union in Ghana, in a Facebook post after the meeting, tagged the Ghana Journalists Association, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ghana, and the EU International Partnerships European External Action Service (EEAS).
Others include the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) and investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni.
