For pupils of Badu Methodist ‘B’ Basic School in the Tain District of the Bono Region, the rainy season has once again brought pain and anxiety instead of relief.
The River Kusi has overflowed its banks, cutting off the only route that connects many of the children to their school. On Tuesday morning, dozens of pupils were left stranded, unable to cross to their classrooms.
Residents told Adom News this has become a yearly ordeal. Each rainy season, children gather helplessly at the riverbank, some even attempting to wade through the fast-flowing, dangerous waters just to attend class.
“This happens every year. We are pleading with the government to construct a bridge for our children. Their safety is at risk,” a resident appealed.

The community is calling on the Tain District Assembly, traditional authorities, and benevolent individuals to help construct a bridge over the River Kusi to ensure safe passage for the pupils.
Locals believe that building a bridge will not only protect the children but also safeguard the future of education in the area — a future currently threatened by the rising waters of the River Kusi.
