Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has emphasised the need for women-led businesses to be supported financially and with the needed resources.

Speaking at the 27th Zonta International District 18 Conference in Accra, she reiterated the impact women's groups can have on the development of a country, which is why they need support systems.

She reminded the women of government’s commitment in this regard through initiatives such as improved access to education, stronger legal protections for women, and expanded support systems.

The Vice President further highlighted ongoing government initiatives geared towards promoting women’s empowerment, including expanded access to quality education and financial inclusion programmes.

Commending Zonta International for complementing these efforts by government, the Vice President said, “while laws and policies are vital, they must be implemented alongside partnerships and people-centred approaches.”

She added, “true transformation in our communities requires collective effort from government, the private sector, civil society, and grassroots actors alike.”

Chairperson of the Conference, Madam Opeibea Omaboe, was grateful for governmental support in implementing their operations and pledged to continue to uplift the livelihoods of local communities worldwide through especially women.
