The Volta Regional Director of Education, Mr Francis Agbemadi, has called on parents and guardians to remain calm and patient as the admission process for first-year students progresses across senior high schools in the region.
Speaking to the media, Mr Agbemadi acknowledged the high demand for placement in well-known Grade A schools and institutions with strong alumni support, such as Kpando Senior High School, Mawuli School, and Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO). He noted that schools like Kpando SHS, which enjoys massive backing from its old students, including Mr Eric Seddy Kutortse, Group Chairman of the First Sky Group Limited, have naturally become highly sought after by many parents.
Mr Agbemadi, however, appealed to parents to accept the placement of their wards in the schools where they have been posted, assuring them that all schools in the Volta Region offer quality education and opportunities for excellence.
“We understand the enthusiasm of parents who want their children to attend certain top schools, but we also want to emphasise that every school in the Volta Region is well-equipped to deliver sound academic and moral training,” he said.
He further stated that the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a stern warning to all school heads against charging unauthorised or illegal fees, stressing that any institution found culpable will face sanctions.
Mr Agbemadi revealed that, unlike in some regions, the admission process in the Volta Region has so far been smooth and orderly, without major disruptions. He expressed optimism that the ongoing exercise would continue without incident, ensuring a fair and transparent process for all students and parents.
He encouraged parents, school authorities, and students to work together in good faith to make the 2025 academic year a successful one, emphasising that cooperation and patience will help sustain the region’s record of calm and effective school placements.
