The 2000-year group of Mawuli School has donated items worth 30,000 to the inmates of the Ho Female Prison to commemorate their 25th anniversary.
The presentation, which saw the members spend time with the inmates, was intended to extend compassion and hope to them to emphasize the importance of community support and reintegration.
The items included water, food, sanitary products, toiletries among others to support the upkeep of the 16 inmates, including 2 baby mothers and a pregnant woman.
The Spokesperson of the Group, Seyram Darbi, said the donation was infoprmed by a decision to use the anniversary to impact society and not just their alma mater.
“We thought we should do something to give back, not only to Mawuli but also to society. Because Mawuli School is part of the society. And so we put some funds together, with contributions from our friends, and got these items for the inmates”, he said

He expressed optimism that the items would help in the reformation process of the inmates and hoped they would integrate back into society safely after serving their time.
The In-Charge of the Ho Female Prisons, Chief Superintendent of Prisons, Okity Millicent, appreciated the donation by the Mawulians and acknowledged their benevolence.
She stressed that the items would enhance the feeding and hygienic conditions of the inmates of the facility.
“We are grateful for the donation. This will help improve our feeding here at the prison. We pray for more of such gestures”, she said.
