As part of its stakeholder engagement drive under the newly inaugurated Board, the Energy Commission held a high-level meeting with Chief Executives of Independent Power Producers (IPPs) at the NZEB in Accra on 29th October 2025 to enhance cooperation and address key industry concerns.

The Board Chairman, Prof. John Gartchie Gatsi, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and partnership. On local content, he clarified that we will not lower the bar but assured that steps are being taken to address the challenges faced by industry players.

Prof. Gatsi also emphasised the need for stronger collaboration with institutions such as ERERA, WAPP, the Ghana Standards Authority, etc., noting that the Commission will continue to align its operations with the needs of the Ghanaian electricity market. He further announced the appointment of the Chief Inspector of Electricity to oversee compliance and technical standards within the sector.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to build a transparent, sustainable, and resilient energy market that supports Ghana’s long-term development goals.
