Like gold refined by fire, Ghana’s celebrated design and craft house, Tekura, has emerged from the ashes with renewed brilliance. Once reduced to rubble by a devastating blaze in 2023, the company has reclaimed its place at the heart of Ghana’s creative industry — marking both its 25th anniversary and grand reopening with a spirit stronger than ever.
Under the moving theme, “From Ashes, Life is Born — Continuing 25 Years of Carving Legacy,” Tekura’s celebration was more than an anniversary. It was a powerful statement of resilience, renewal, and the unbreakable spirit of craftsmanship.

A Journey of Recovery and Rebirth
At the event, Managing Director Audrey Forson shared a heartfelt reflection on Tekura’s long road back.
“For the past one year and ten months, we have been working to rebuild the company after a devastating fire incident,” Forson said. “We are part of an ecosystem — a value chain. There’s still a lot of demand for our products, and many artisans depend on us for their livelihoods. We have worked tirelessly to get to this point. We’re ready to do business again.”

Her words carried the weight of a company that has weathered loss — and the pride of a team that refused to let it define their story.
Carving Ghanaian Creativity onto the Global Stage
Board Chair, Dr. Afua Asabea Asare, praised Tekura’s enduring commitment to innovation and authenticity. To her, Tekura represents far more than a wood-carving brand — it is the embodiment of Ghanaian artistry translated for the world.

“The impact Tekura is making is immense — using our Ghanaian way of doing things,” she said. “They continue to craft designs that reflect our culture, yet speak beautifully to the global market.”
Constance Swaniker, President of the Design and Technology Institute (DTI), echoed this sentiment, commending Tekura’s resilience and urging young creatives to draw inspiration from its journey.
“Tekura’s story is a testament of what is possible when you work with your hands. The creative industry is growing and it is a good time for young people to consider careers in this space,” she said.

A New Symbol of Renewal
As part of its milestone celebration, Tekura unveiled a new logo, a visual metaphor for resilience, tenacity, and rebirth. It stands as a reminder that from ruin can rise something even more beautiful — a principle deeply woven into the company’s creative DNA.
From the ruins of 2023 to the brilliance of a 25-year legacy, Tekura’s story is one of fire and grace — a testament to the endurance of Ghanaian craftsmanship and the power of creativity to turn loss into legacy.
