The two teams went into the break with no goals in the game.
Ghana continued their chase for the opening goal after the break. South Korea,, on the other side settled into the game and were rewarded in the 63rd minute.
Lee Tae-Seok opened the scoring for South Korea with a header at the far post after a brilliant cross from PSG's Lee Kang-In.
Ghana almost got the equaliser when substitute Brandon Thomas-Asante struck from distance, but his shot came off the post.
South Korea had an opportunity to double their lead from the penalty spot, but Asare was able to keep out Hwang Hee-Chang's effort.
The Black Stars had two goals by Kwabena Adu and Jonas Adjei Adjetey rightly ruled out for offside.
Despite their late pressure, Otto Addo's side were unable to find a goal as the game ended 1-0.
