Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has clarified that he never referred to the Director of Strategy, Research and Communications at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Sammy Darko, or other staff as “junior staff.”
Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr Kpebu said: “I never called anyone junior officers. I only referred to a subordinate who works under Kissi Agyebeng. I wonder why Sammy Darko doesn’t understand. No wonder things don’t get done at the OSP. Those who work there are all under Kissi.”
He stressed, “I never used the word ‘junior.’ You don’t even understand the word ‘subordinate.’”
Mr Kpebu further questioned Mr. Darko’s experience in the legal profession, saying: “Sammy Darko, when did you finish law school, and what cases have you handled in court? I know lawyers who completed law school 25 years ago and are not even close to the rank of a commissioner of police, yet Sammy Darko’s position at the OSP is equivalent to that rank.”
He added, “If Sammy Darko were in the police service, by now he wouldn’t even be a superintendent. I know lawyers in the police service for more than 20 years who are just going to ASP. But you, Sammy Darko, already look at your position at the OSP and think you are higher than someone else.”
Explaining his choice of words, Mr Kpebu said, “I used the word ‘subordinate,’ and Sammy Darko should go and check the meaning before coming at me. Even when you use the word ‘junior,’ and they say he is junior to the OSP, the person is not wrong. It just means he is not the one who is the boss.”
Mr Kpebu is expected to report at 11 a.m. today for further investigations relating to the alleged obstruction, while a separate date will be scheduled for the inquiry into his corruption allegations.
