President John Mahama has earned praise from Kumasi residents in the Ashanti Region, with some rating his first-year performance as high as 90 per cent, amid early signs of economic relief and visible government action.
Speaking to JoyNews’ Clinton Yeboah, some residents shared their views on his first-year performance.
“There are visible signs that the government is working. Prices of goods have reduced, and the exchange rate is now more stable. We are starting to feel some relief,” a resident said.
Another added, “I did not vote for Mahama, but I have to appreciate how he has performed in the last year. If he continues this spate, he will deserve recognition.”
While most residents praised the administration’s performance, some expressed cautious optimism, saying they will closely monitor whether the improvements continue over the next three years, while opposition supporters remained critical.
“I will give him 2% for abysmal performance,” one critic said. “All the abuses and so-called reductions are man-made, not from him. We are not seeing what he promised.”
