A tragic incident has occurred at Berekum, where Emmanuel Yeboah allegedly killed his brother and his brother’s wife over a disputed cashew farm.
The victims were ambushed and attacked with a cutlass and later died while receiving treatment at a health facility.
A statement issued by the Bono Regional Police Command and signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Regional Public Relations Officer, said the suspect was arrested and remanded into police custody on January 3, 2026, by the Berekum Circuit Court, presided over by Osei Kofi, for attempted murder and causing harm.
According to the statement, the suspect is expected to reappear before the court on January 12, 2026, for further proceedings. At the time of the initial arraignment, the victims had sustained multiple injuries.
The police said the victims were rushed to a health facility for treatment but died on January 8, 2026.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the attack was triggered by a long-standing disagreement over the ownership of a cashew farm, while the victims were on their way to the disputed land.
A cutlass believed to have been used in the attack was retrieved from the bush, and investigations are ongoing.
