The Word of Truth and Prayers Ministries (TWOTAP) has launched a ‘Care for Widows’ programme aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable widows across Ghana.
Speaking at a press briefing to mark the launch, the Founder and Leader of the ministry, Evangelist Francis Awusi, said the initiative seeks to support both widows and widowers who are economically vulnerable. He stressed that the programme is not limited to members of TWOTAP but is open to widows nationwide.
According to him, more than 2,000 widows will benefit from the programme, with each receiving an amount of GH₵400 every month to help ease their living conditions.
“Many people have the perception that churches are only interested in taking from their congregations without giving back, but not all churches are like that,” Evangelist Awusi stated.
He used the opportunity to call on other churches to complement the government's efforts by supporting vulnerable people, especially members within their congregations.
The Word of Truth and Prayers Ministries was established in Ghana in 2020 and has since made both spiritual and humanitarian contributions to the lives of many people.
Evangelist Awusi cautioned individuals who do not qualify as widows to refrain from attempting to benefit from the programme, adding that clear criteria have been outlined to ensure that only genuine widows receive the support.
He further called on philanthropists and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to support the initiative, saying such partnerships would help extend assistance to more widows and further ease their living conditions.
He cautioned the public that he does not solicit support through social media and warned that anyone using his name to collect money online should desist immediately.
